Statement
“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” -Lady Bird Johnson
Flowers can bring an empowering sense of hope and happiness. An introduction to my art generates an instant response similar to Southern hospitality, a guaranteed smile. Sparks of hope, and the cheerful energy reminiscent of childhood wonder make for whimsical displays of vivid, playful color combinations to catch the eye with each piece of my work. I think of my artistic discovery as a perpetual journey pursuing a potential for projecting positive perspectives from beautiful blooms.
Blooming Potential.
Biography
Finding Art
Victoria Wheeler feels at home in nature, a perspective that has been influenced by a childhood in rural northwest Georgia. Not venturing too far from the comforts of home, she was able to satisfy her curiosity of what shapes a the unique perspective of each individual by completing her bachelors degree in sociology at Kennesaw State University. During her undergraduate education an interest in legal studies developed and she applied and was accepted into law school at John Marshall Law School of Atlanta.
Compelled by curiosity, Victoria navigated the challenges of a legal education and thrived in her pursuits. Her academic success led to acceptance into the honors program for criminal law, becoming executive editor of notes and comments for the law journal, participating as treasurer for the American Constitution Society, and gaining valued internship experience working with a public defender.
After spending over two years working towards a legal career, an unexpected interruption became her top priority, a daughter.
Shifting focus from jurisdiction and memorandums, Victoria spends her days in Rome, Georgia chasing giggles and chaos only a child can produce. Incorporating art into her parenting style led to the discovery of her own artistic potential when paper snowflakes melted into giant paper flowers. Practicing self proscribed art therapy, she finds hand cutting paper into beautiful flower blooms, or hand painting thrift store treasures into upcycled garden decor, creates a sense peace within her. She hopes sharing her art acts as a ripple effect of positivity.
